Burial will be in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home.    Mr. Sweeden passed away Tuesday, August 6, 2024, in Lawton, Oklahoma.

He was born January 31, 1953, in Stockton, California, to Moman and Elizabeth (Gilliam) Sweeden. Raymond was united in marriage to the love of his life Julie Matthews on January 13, 1982. She preceded in death on February 19, 2018. He was raised in Frederick and worked as a farmhand for many years. Raymond obtained his CNA (certified nurse's aide) license and worked at the Frederick Nursing Center. He loved to help and care for his patients, family and friends. He always said, "I am just a phone call away." Raymond would drop his hat in a heartbeat, kneel down, and pray with you, or for you. Raymond enjoyed yard work: mowing and keeping flower beds. He liked country music and gospel singing. He loved telling stories and sometimes would embellish. He loved his family, and he loved life. He will be missed. He was truly a special individual.

He is survived by his daughter: Josette Evans, of Frederick, Oklahoma; two brothers: Amos Sweeden and wife Charlotte, of Lawton, Oklahoma, and Roy Sweeden and wife Bettie, of Moore, Oklahoma; three sisters: Betty Bryant, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Nettie Sweeden, of Madill, Oklahoma, and Martha Harrison, of Frederick, Oklahoma; two granddaughters: Julia Evans, of Spokane, Washington, and Penny Evans, of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; a great grandson: Aiden Hilton, also of Broken Bow, Oklahoma; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers: Melvin Davis, Bert Davis, and Billy Wayne; four sisters: Lola Sweeden, Laura Bryant, Elizabeth Gee, and Juanita Davis.
