Ruby Elizabeth Hassell

Funeral service for Ruby Elizabeth Hassell, age 89, of Lewisville, Texas, formerly of Manitou, Oklahoma, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2025, at the Orr Gray Gish Chapel with Rev. Les Banks officiating.

Mrs. Hassell passed away on December 25, 2024, in Lewisville, Texas. Burial will be in the Bethel Cemetery, northeast of Frederick.

Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was born on February 12, 1935, at Manitou, Oklahoma, to Lesley Lee and Eva Elizabeth (Fisher) Hogue. She attended Manitou schools for all 12 years and graduated high school with the Class of 1953. She attended Oklahoma A&M, now Oklahoma State University, for two years. She was united in marriage to Donald Gene Hassell on June 4, 1955, at Manitou. He preceded her in death on September 23, 2011. She was very active in the lives of her children. She was the class mother of grade school classes and substitute taught. She was the 4-H Club leader. She was a foster mother and also baby sat children and loved them like her own. She belonged to the Friendship Quilting Club. She was a member of Vista Ridge United Methodist Church in Lewisville, Texas.

She is survived by two sons: Michael Dale “Mike” Hassel, of Manitou, and Christopher Gene “Chris” Hassell and wife Martha, of Mustang; two daughters: Vicki Lynn Rodriguez and husband Joe, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Tamera Lynette “Tammie” Barber, of Lewisville, Texas. eight grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
