Virginia Gibbs

          Funeral service for Mary “Virginia” Gibbs, age 89, of Frederick, Oklahoma, will be held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, November 16, 2018, at the First Baptist Church of Frederick with Rev. Les Banks officiating.

          She passed away Friday afternoon, November 9, 2018, at the Shawnee Care Center. Burial will be in the Frederick Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Orr Gray Gish Funeral Home, of Frederick.

          Visitation will be from noon to 3:00 p.m. on Friday at the church prior to the service.

          She was born January 25, 1929, in Vernon, Texas, to Henry Grady Coston and Birdie (Chumey) Coston. She attended school at Weaver and graduated from Weaver High School with the Class of 1945. She was united in marriage to Lesley Wayne Gibbs on June 16, 1949. He preceded her in death on November 14, 1981. She owned and operated Virginia’s Bakery and Pastry for several years. She worked for the National Bank of Frederick until its closure. She also worked at Miracle Lab Pest Control for 21 years until her retirement in 2007. She was an avid Texas Rangers baseball fan. She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church.

          In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son: Lesley Lane Gibbs and his wife Terri; brother: Grady Coston; and a sister: Lula Mae Kays.

          Survivors include a son: Jerald Wayne Gibbs and wife Valerie, of Houston, Texas; grandson: Jonathan Gibbs and wife Jennifer, of Shawnee, Oklahoma; and granddaughter: Alison Ethisham and husband Jamil, of Oklahoma City.
